Osborne has the unique opportunity to offer several local business incentives in addition to our modern “big city” conveniences such as high-speed Internet and phone access, railroad and municipal airport.
Osborne Incentives
Land Incentives
The City of Osborne is offering free land or land at a reduced cost to stimulate growth in business and population in our area. The property for businesses is zoned C-2 and I-1, which allows for general commercial businesses and light industrial businesses. It is located on the North end of Osborne between 2nd and 6th streets. This area has easy access to Highway 24.
Residential property is located on the South end of town in the Sunset Addition off of Main Street.
Persons interested in this incentive simply need to fill out an application that includes information such as when they will be available to attend a council meeting and discuss which lot to build on.
Osborne Revolving Loan Fund
The Osborne Revolving Loan Fund began in 1989 through the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Community Development Block Grant. The purpose of the fund is to stimulate private investment and create or retain permanent jobs for low and moderate-income citizens of the City of Osborne. The fund is to provide fixed asset financing for new and healthy expanding businesses in addition to stimulating economic growth by leveraging as much private capital as possible.
Since the initial loan to Osborne Industries in 1989, almost one million dollars has been loaned out to more than fifteen new or established businesses.
No Intangible Tax
The City of Osborne does not collect intangible taxes from its citizens.
Osborne County Micro Loan Program
The Osborne County Micro Loan program also offers low interest loans to qualifying businesses. Please contact the County Courthouse located on Main Street for an application.
